LOROS Colour of Ribbons

A Royal Cake Maker will be opening this year’s LOROS Colour of Ribbons and Open Day as part of the Hospice’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

Fiona Cairns, who created The Royal Wedding Cake for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2011, will also be making a cake for the annual event, which will take place on Saturday 4th July.

The day will give visitors the opportunity to remember somebody who brought colour to their life, whether that be a family member, friend or a colleague, by tying a ribbon on a tree in the gardens of the Hospice.

LOROS volunteer Sue Swann whose mum died at the Hospice, said: “Choosing the colour of ribbon I wanted to tie on the tree felt so personal. My Mum always looked lovely in lilac, so for me that was the obvious choice.

“Other members of the family chose other colours which meant something special to them as they thought about Mum.”

The ribbons, which come in a variety of colours will then remain on display throughout the summer months. Visitors will also be given the option to keep their ribbon, if they wish.

Visitors will also be given an informal tour of the Hospice.

Sue added: “Coming into LOROS is like having a warm hug.”

There will be no official service as part of the Colour of Ribbons event, but access will still be available to the Chapel/Prayer Room and the Garden of Light and Reflection, during the day.

On the day, there will be four time allocations available, 10am, 11am, 12 noon and 1pm.

Visitors will be given a ribbon in return for a donation to the Hospice.

The Colour of Ribbons event is by booking only. For any further information, please contact the Fundraising Department on (0116) 231 8431 or email fundraising@loros.co.uk
