"The LOROS Accumulator Challenge finished on Wednesday” said Magdalena Korytkowska, Fundraising Co-ordinator at LOROS, “The challengers are now providing me with their final totals and details about their fundraising.

"I’m amazed how they have gone that extra mile to raise funds for our patients and their families”.

"The Freedom Care team were thinking outside the box during their challenge and I was speechless to learn what they did at the end of the competition”.

Katrina, Director at Freedom Care went on to say: "Last Monday we had a BBQ at our care home and raised £130 selling drinks and food. Dave and Shaun had their legs waxed by the staff and residents, which went down a storm, was very, very amusing and raised a further £70!

"Then came my own personal baked bean challenge. I hate baked beans and it’s fair to say that I have a baked beans phobia. Cheered on by the residents I bravely put my hands and feet into bowls full of baked beans - it was DREADFUL, really, really awful! However, I'm delighted to say it raised a wonderful £340 towards our Accumulator Challenge, so it was worth every horrible moment."

The money the team raised on their last day could pay for ten patient’s meals for a day and for one of our Community Nurse Specialists to visit five patients in their own home, providing free care and support to patients and their family members.

Well done everyone, but especially you Katrina - your massive personal challenge really will make a difference - thank you!
