A Shepshed couple have celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary and lifelong friendship by raising £555 for LOROS.

Del and June Lee of St Bernard’s Close asked for donations to the hospice rather than presents as they marked their 60th wedding anniversary on Thursday, June 4.

They celebrated with an afternoon tea with family and friends including son and daughter Andrew and Susan, grand children Lorna, Simon, Samantha and Abigail and great grandchild Rian at The Glenmore Centre the following Saturday.

The pair grew up together on Greasham Street in Belgrave.

Del, 83, said: “I used to see her going down the road to the dancing. I wasn’t much of a dancer, but one day I asked her if she wanted to come round mine to listen to records. I still listen to Al Jolson.”

June, who has supported LOROS for years, said: “Del’s been a really good husband and brilliant dad.

“I’d like to thank everyone for our celebrations.”
