Joe's Jog, a one-mile run organised by and in aid of Joe Humphries Memorial Trust and LOROS, attracted 92 runners.

It took place just before the Mattoli Woods Rothley 10k, held in aid of LOROS hospice.

The trust campaigns for greater understanding and awareness of sudden heart conditions.

It was set up in memory of Joe Humphries, who collapsed and died from sudden arrhythmic death syndrome (Sads) when he was 14 and out jogging near his home in Rothley.

Steve Humphries, Joe's father, said: "It was fantastic to see so many people come out in support of Joe, and in support of the great work of both the trust and Loros.

"Thanks also go to Joe's army of volunteers who gave up their precious time to help out behind the scenes with marshalling and other event duties.

"Lots of Joe's friends completed the run and it was great to see the Rothley Imps under-10s football team running together in their kit.

"Joe's Jog is an inclusive, family-friendly event that really brings the community together.

"It also raises awareness of the vital work of the trust.

"We want to make sure everyone knows what to do if someone collapses in sudden cardiac arrest."

First across the finish line was last year's winner, Cameron Harrison White, in five minutes, 45 seconds.

Runners-up were James Pilbeam, 14, in 5min, 53sec and 12-year-old Ryan Elston, in 5min, 59sec.

Laura Fitzsawyer, LOROS Fundraising Co-ordinator, said: "It was great to see so many people taking part and giving their time so generously to raise money for such worthy causes.

"It means we can continue to support people and make a positive difference to patients and their families, at a time when they need it most."
