Remembering Gloria

Brothers James & Richard Tarrant, recently lost their wonderful Mum, Gloria Ashton and are embarking on a challenge to raise vital funds and awareness for LOROS.

They said: "The brilliant LOROS Hospice took care of our Mum in her final weeks and allowed her to remain positive and keep her dignity.

"The hospice can only run through voluntary donations and we are aiming to raise as much as we can so that other families may benefit from this amazing organisation.

"We were delighted that Sketchley Hill Primary School in Burbage, where James teaches, wanted to help with our fundraising. They held a hiking/walking themed non uniform day; every one of the 420 pupils took part and they raised an amazing £386.53 for us.

"We have also received £600 from Funeral donations, a further £200 from other donations as well as £771 at a charity race night, which we are hoping will be match-funded by the National Grid."

Their aim is to raise £3000 between them and their toughest event will be an endurance walk of 184 miles along the entire length of the Thames, from its source in Kemble to the Thames Barrier. They begin on the 1st August 2015 and hope to averaging 15 miles a day, which means it will take them about two weeks.

Laura Fitzsawyer, Fundraising Co-ordinator at LOROS said: "I hope that James & Richard achieve their aim; it would be a wonderful tribute to Gloria.

"Everyone at LOROS wishes them the very best of luck and we look forward to reading all about their exploits on their website"
