On Wednesday, 13th May 2015, Fundraising Co-ordinator at LOROS, Magdalena Korytkowska was presented with a cheque for £2,106.08 from Blaby District Council.

Councillor David Clements, Chairman of Blaby District Council, chose to support LOROS in 2014. During this yearly partnership Blaby District Council staff members put their hands on deck to raise vital funds for their local Hospice. From Blaby District Council Chairman's Garden Party which was organised in July, quizzes and Coast-to-Coast Walk through to the Family Fun Day in the Pavilion, Blaby Bake Off in October and Christmas Concert in December – they really worked hard to secure money and make a difference to the hospice.

The fantastic amount donated is equivalent to the cost of a fully qualified, full time nurse to care for terminally ill inpatients for three weeks.

Magdalena Korytkowska said: "We were honoured to have been chosen by Blaby District Council as their Charity of the Year for 2014 and we wish them every success with their fundraising in the future.

"We would like to thank the Council staff members from the bottom of our hearts, on behalf of all of us at LOROS, our patients and their family members for this amazing support. This wonderful donation has made a fantastic difference to the care we provide to 2,500 terminally ill patients and their carers each year."

Jane Toman, Director of People at Blaby District Council, said: "LOROS is a charity that supports so many people throughout Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, and I'm so proud that our efforts throughout the year have raised over £2,000, which will go towards maintaining the valuable services of this excellent organisation."
