On a beautifully sunny Sunday 27th September, more than 350 LOROS supporters took a ‘Walk on the Wildside’ in aid of the Hospice.

The event had three walks to choose from, 4.5 or 11 miles (starting from Hunts Hill Car Park at Bradgate Park) and a Tiny Trail suitable for pushchairs, wheelchairs and little ones (starting at the Newtown Linford entrance to Bradgate Park).

After receiving their goody bags, which included a free drink and banana, the partcipants took part in a gentle warm up, led by the most famous fox in Leicester, LCFC’s Filbert.

Councillor John Capleton, Mayor of Charnwood Borough Council made a welcome address before he and the Lady Mayoress, Mrs Meg Jenkinson offically declared the Walk open.

Laura Fitzsawyer, Fundraising Co-ordinator at LOROS said, “We would like to thank everyone who took part in the Walk on Sunday. The weather was perfect and it was so nice to see everyone smiling and having fun, whilst raising the vital funds needed to care for our terminally ill patients and their families!

"We would also like to thank all of our dedicated volunteers, Fyffes for donating the bananas to the event, Kishor Mistry for donating yummy Samosa’s and our special guests, the Mayor and Mayoress of Charnwood and Filbert Fox”.

You can take your sponsor money into the Hospice, or hand it in at any of the 27 LOROS Shops. Alternatively, you can post a cheque or call the Fundraising Team on 0116 231 8431 to pay be card.

The person who has raised the most sponsorship money by January 1st will receive a free family pass that has very kindly been donated by Twinlakes.
