Sunny Yellow Day for LOROS

Yellow day for LOROS was made even brighter by a stunningly beautiful autumn day, which enhanced all the yellow outfits.

We are still waiting for the donations to come in but these are just some of the many comments from our participants...

Julie Collett said: “Here in the School of Business and Economics at Loughborough University we had a very busy day. We had people dressed in yellow. At lunch time we set up 4 tables in reception and we were selling books, yellow sweets, giant sunflower seeds, home baked cakes and raffle tickets. We raised £403.94 for LOROS”

Laura Kingzett from Walkers Midshire Food said: “One of our employees Dennis Platt died a couple of weeks ago and he spent some of his final days at LOROS, so we were also doing this in his memory. We are glad that we can be part of the LOROS Yellow Day and also remember our colleagues at the same time.”

Amanda Irwin from British Gas, Grove Park reported: “Great news we have raised £330 as a result of our wear yellow and donate in our "droppa a coppa" donation buckets.”

Freedom Care organised a random yellow themed raffle during their coffee morning raising nearly £100, Frank Innes took over the city dressing up yellowish and raising nearly £160 and colleagues at Leicester City Council raised £875.09.

Children were also supporting our campaign. Rosie-Mae and her 3 sisters had made, and were selling, homemade yellow badges to raise money for LOROS. Their badges were selling like wild fire around the school and they were struggling to keep up with demand. Rosie-Mae's grandma is currently being cared for by LOROS and the granddaughters wanted to give something back.

Magda Korytkowska, Fundraising Co-ordinator at LOROS said: “A massive thank you to everyone involved. Yellow Day helps us to raise awareness about hospice care and dispel some of the misconceptions surrounding them.

"I was delighted to welcome Simon White from PwC when he visited LOROS to present a cheque for £4,152.02 from their Annual Charity Quiz Night. It’s wonderful that he chose Yellow Day to visit us wearing his lovely Yellow outfit.

"LOROS is a wonderful place, very bright and comforting. The yellow colour reflects it greatly.

"We all enjoyed being together on Friday, wearing yellow and being united. I loved the pictures from our supporters in their yellow outfits and it was so lovely to see so many smiley faces.”
