Leicestershire County Council staff raise £939 for LOROS yellow day

Councillor David Snartt, the Chairman of Leicestershire County Council, presented a cheque to LOROS during a ceremony at County Hall on Thursday 19th November.

Teams from the County Council office recently took part in the LOROS Yellow Day campaign to raise funds and awareness about the Hospice and representatives from those teams were present to watch the chairman hand the cheque to LOROS President, Jennifer, Lady Gretton.

Alt textMagdalena Korytkowska, Fundraising Co-ordinator at LOROS, who was also in attendance, said: "The teams really threw themselves into the spirit of the day - as well as donating £1 to wear yellow, they also organised a cake sale and raffle. "The sterling efforts from members of the Environment & Transport (Support Systems Team), the Corporate Property Services (Asset Management Information Team, Corporate Resources - ICT (Front Line 2), Corporate Resources - HR, the customer Service Centre, and the Civic Affairs Office, raised an amazing £939.

"This was the largest single donation we received from our Yellow Day campaign and I congratulate the teams on raising such a wonderful amount; it could pay for one of our Community Nurse Specialists to visit nine patients in their own homes, providing free care and support to them and their family members."

"By taking part, the Leicestershire County Council staff members have also raised awareness about the Hospice and the work we do - a huge thank you from everyone at LOROS"
