A hospice charity is offering to recycle your real Christmas tree after this year’s festive period in return for a small donation.

The new campaign has been launched by LOROS and will see three vans visiting Harborough over the weekend of January 9 and 10, 2016.

For a minimum donation of £5, LOROS says it will take your tree to Welland Waste Management, which will turn them into wood chippings to be used as compost on the firm's farm.

David Nicklin, Fundraising Co-ordinator at LOROS, said: "When Christmas has come and gone, the last thing people want to worry about is getting rid of their tree - so let LOROS do it for you.

"This year we are only focusing the campaign on Harborough, Little Bowden and Great Bowden but hopefully, if it is successful, we will look at expanding the collection area in the future."

In order to have your tree collected, your postcode must begin with LE16 7, LE16 8 or LE16 9.

The collection vans have been donated to the charity by Practical Van and Car Rental.

Email davenicklin@loros.co.uk or phone (0116) 231 8432.

Every year LOROS must raise £4.5 million to continue caring for 2,500 terminally ill patients, their family and carers.
