Supported by Welland Waste Management and Practical Car and Van Hire, the first ever LOROS Christmas Treecycling campaign was trialled in Market Harborough and the surrounding villages.

For a minimum donation of £5 to LOROS, residents could arrange for their used Christmas trees to be collected from outside their houses over the weekend 9/10th January.

Dave Nicklin, Fundraising Co-ordinator at LOROS said: "The collection went really well, with just a few minor hiccups and teething problems and we are very grateful to everyone who helped us to trial this new initiative.

"We gleaned some very useful information from this year's campaign and will certainly be putting some of what we learnt into practice next year.

“We have received fantastic help from Harborough District Council, Harborough Mail and Harborough FM and we were thrilled by the response from general public.

"We collected around 150 trees and the event raised £1,000 for LOROS. Typically, this amount could be used to pay for 40 hours of care for one of our inpatients.

“The campaign would not have been possible without Welland Waste Management and Practical Car and Van Hire to whom we are very grateful.”

LOROS have already started planning next year’s Christmas Treecycling in order to make it even bigger and better.

On 7th and 8th January 2017 we will be coming back to Market Harborough, so please keep an eye out on our website events page for information on how to book your collection.
