Do you have what it takes to climb 351 steps up one of Leicester’s most iconic buildings?

On Sunday 6th March, Leicester will be welcoming the UK Tower Running Championship Series for the very first time, thanks to the latest event from LOROS Hospice, the St George’s Tower Run.

The event will see participants scale 20 floors of the city landmark, known to many as the Blue Tower, thanks to its vibrant exterior.

Fundraising Co-ordinator, Andrew Ward said: “Stair running is a relatively new concept in the UK, and I’m delighted that we have been able to partner up with the championships and provide an exciting new challenge both for local beginners as well as the pros.

Following the race to the top, participants will then be able to enjoy the fantastic view of the city from the top floor of Leicester’s tallest occupied building.

“This year, we’re daring as many people as possible to take on a challenge for LOROS and this could be the perfect event for anyone to take part in” added Andrew.

“Run or walk your way to the top, I don’t mind as long as you give it a go – the view is worth it.”

This will be the shortest course ever raced in the UK, with organisers expecting very quick time from some of the country’s fastest stair climbers.

Patrick Gallagher from Tower Running UK said: “The short distance makes the event a perfect introduction for those new to the sport of stair climbing and will also be a great warm-up for the London-based events later in the year”.

If you are interested in taking part, registration is free if you pledge to raise £50 for LOROS, or you can pay £30 entry free.

Start times will be allocated prior to the event following sign-up, with the first participants set to begin the climb at 9am.
