Patients and carers at LOROS Hospice are being helped to keep in touch with the news, thanks to branches of a bank.

The two Handelsbanken branches in the city have taken out a subscription for 30 copies of the Leicester Mercury to be delivered to the charity daily.

John Clay, manager of the bank’s New Walk branch, said: “We wanted to become involved within the community and were looking for a good cause to support.

“I knew the name LOROS, but had never been to the Hospice before. When we visited we were very impressed with what we found – it is lovely with fantastic facilities.”

Handelsbanken also has branches in Greyfriars, Leicester city centre and in North Road, Loughborough.

It is a Swedish bank established in 1871 with more than 200 branches in Great Britain
