Hollyoaks star Charlie Clapham has donated four Kasabian tickets for their sold-out gig at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium to LOROS Hospice, after he found out the event clashed with this year’s British Soap Awards.
Charlie, who was formally an Ambassador for the Groby Road Hospice and has recently been made a Patron, could be in with the chance of winning Best Actor at the awards, which are being presented on Saturday 28th May, the same night as the show.
The star, who is best known for playing Freddie Roscoe in the Channel 4 soap said he knew exactly what he wanted to do with the tickets when he found out he couldn’t make it.
“When we realised the two events were on the same night, me and my mum looked at each other and both said LOROS at the same time; we knew there was only one home for them,” Charlie said.
“As I can’t go that evening, I want them to go to a good cause and one that I plan on supporting for a very long time, that’s LOROS.”
When tickets for the gig were released on Saturday, they sold out within six minutes. The two pairs of tickets, which are both standing, can be won by purchasing a raffle ticket for just £1.
“I’ve been to LOROS a few times now, so I know just how much the money raised from these tickets will mean to everyone there,” Charlie added.
“And I’m sure there is somebody out there who really wanted to get tickets for the event but missed out, so here is their chance to get their hands on a pair and if we can raise some money for LOROS too, that’s a bonus.
“The guys at LOROS, everyone in Leicester and all my fans have all been great in supporting me when it comes to the British Soap Awards, so it’s a great feeling to be able to give something back.
“I’m just hoping I can make it a treble win for Leicester now, after the Foxes and Selby triumphed, by getting another win for the city and winning Best Actor at this year’s awards.”
Acting Fundraising Manager at LOROS Adrian Walker said: “We are so grateful to Charlie for donating the two pairs of tickets to LOROS.
“We know how in demand the tickets were for the show, so we are hoping the raffle will raise quite a lot of money for the Hospice.
“Everyone here at LOROS really does wish Charlie the best of luck at the Soap Awards, we sincerely hope he wins Best Actor, he deserves it.”
Raffle tickets will be available to buy in all LOROS Shops, from the Hospice and from the Kazbah Tattoo and Piercing Parlour in Leicester, which is owned by Charlie’s family.
The raffle will begin at Midday on Monday 9th May and end at midday on Monday 23rd May, five days before the Kasabian gig.
