A former Skegness man rode back into town last Friday as he ended a 101-mile charity bike ride.

Tony Walker, 37, cycled from his home in Barlestone, Leicestershire, to the east coast in support of LOROS, a charity providing hospice care in Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.

The ex-Butlin’s Redcoat was accompanied on the journey by running club friend Jon Bebb.

Tony, a lab manager at Specsavers in Leicester, is hoping to raise £1,000 for the cause across a series of fundraisers planned for this year.

He said: “I wanted a tough endurance challenge to get stuck into to start my year of fundraising. I’ll be donating all the money I raise to LOROS, which is an amazing charity and relies on public donations to support over 2,500 people and their families each year. I took a tour of the Hospice in February and it was fantastic to meet some of the team and see the support they provide.”

Anyone wishing to add to Tony’s total can make a donation on his JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/Oneyearchallenge
