An organisation who took part in last year’s Yellow Day for LOROS are encouraging others to join in the fun this October.

Leicestershire County Council raised nearly £1,000 for the Groby Road Hospice by asking members of staff to include yellow in their outfit, as well as organising a cake sale and raffle.

With this year’s Yellow Day fast approaching, the council team are looking at improving their fundraising total by taking part again this year on Friday 7th October.

David Snartt, Chairman of the Leicestershire County Council 2015/16 said: “I was delighted that the elected members and staff of the County Council supported the LOROS Yellow Day with such enthusiasm.

“With a flash of yellow in the dress code, a sale of homemade cakes and a raffle, we all enjoyed getting involved to support such a worthwhile cause, and raised nearly a thousand pounds in the process.

“I look forward to the County Council building on this success at the next Yellow Day, and I would encourage other organisations to join in to support our wonderful local hospice, LOROS.”

This year, LOROS will be encouraging people to wear yellow and donate £1 for the annual event, which once again falls within Hospice Care Week.

Companies, organisations, schools, universities and individuals are being asked to participate, with LOROS looking at topping last year’s grand total of £5,000.

Jessica Magnor, Lettings Manager at Frank Innes, who took part last year said: “We decided to take part in Yellow day for LOROS last year as we wanted to have a fun day and get as many people involved as possible.

On the day all staff wore yellow and we were offering cakes and drinks out to customers and other colleagues. Not only we raised money for such a great cause but we also had a lot of fun in the process.”

This year’s Hospice Care Week will kick off on Monday 3rd October and LOROS are celebrating the national campaign in a number of ways.

Among other exciting events, LOROS will be hosting their Hospice Open Day, ‘Love Leicester, Love LOROS’ on Saturday 8th October.
