Amecon, the UK's largest residential convention dedicated to the celebration of Japanese Animation and Comics, took place recently.

Each year they choose a different charity to support; normally it’s a national one but, much to our delight, they decided to support local Hospice, LOROS during 2016.

To raise funds the AmeCom Committee took part in a Wolf Run, organised a bucket collection during their three day convention and ended with a charity auction with lost of items related to Japanese animation and comics donated from retailers, artists and collectors. Alt text

Magdalena Korytkowska, Corporate Fundraiisng Co-ordinator for LOROS said: "I have never laughed so much at a charity auction- it was a great performance by the auctioneer and people were amazingly generous.

"The £6,443.76 they raised could pay for the care of an inpatient for a 12 day stay at the Hospice - what an incredible achievement!

Magda added: "More than 1,200 people attending the convention and I was thrilled to be invited on to the charity panel and to say thank you to everyone for their support and generosity. It was a brilliant opportunity to reach out to so many people and talk about the wonderful work carried out at LOROS.
