More than 150 members of the team from Midlands-based Chamber strategic partner PKF Cooper Parry have added gardening, cleaning and painting to their many talents over the past week – and all in the name of charity.

PKF Cooper Parry, which has offices in the East and West Midlands, launched its first Community Week in August 2015 as part of its CP Giving Programme, which pledges to carry out 365 days of volunteering every year – the equivalent of one day for every employee.

Following the success of last year’s activities, the firm extended its commitment this year, supporting ten charities and contributing around 1,200 hours of volunteer time to charities and good causes across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and the West Midlands.

150 team members volunteered to take part in a variety of activities across the county, with some helping to organise donations at Leicester’s LOROS Hospice warehouse. Time was also spent with the Prince’s Trust across various locations, where team members observed young people who are exploring the idea of setting up their own businesses.

The week’s activities have taken the PKF Cooper Parry team more than half way to achieving its 2016 volunteering target.

Ade Cheatham, CEO at PKF Cooper Parry, said: “Getting out of the office and into our local communities really opens your eyes to just how hard charities and voluntary organisations have to work in order to deliver their valuable services.

“Working together to carry out a variety of practical tasks is not only a great team building experience for us, but the knowledge that you’ve contributed in a small way to some incredible causes is really satisfying and gives a moral boost to everyone involved.

“Being generous is one of our core values, so next year we’re going to make our Community Week even bigger.”

Claire Baggley, Stock Co-ordinator at LOROS, said: “I am very grateful PKF Cooper Parry chose LOROS as one of its selected charities for its Community Week.

“Every single person I have met from the team has made a massive difference to LOROS. As the team will know, the warehouse never seems to stop, so we would like to thank everyone involved for all their hard work and the donations they made.”

Over the past 11 years, PKF Cooper Parry has raised money for a range of local and national charities, including Macmillan, Alzheimer’s Society, LOROS Hospice, Rainbows Hospice and Headway.

The firm is the headline sponsor of this year’s Colour Blast Dash family runs, which are taking place across the Midlands to raise money for Leicester charity The Laura Centre, which offers bereavement counselling for parents and children.
