A shopping experience day at LOROS has led to an influx of clothing donations to the Hospice, as well as raising vital funds.
The Frock, Swap and Shop event took place on Saturday 29th October at the Hospice and featured a variety of independent stalls, from vintage clothing, jewellery and handbags, to cosmetics, greeting cards and gifts.
Visitors also had access to a special one-off LOROS pop-up shop, featuring some of the best new and pre-loved stock from the Hospice’s Oadby shop, as well as By Design in Leicester city centre.
Ragdale Hall beauty therapists were also on hand to treat shoppers to a relaxing hand massage.
To encourage visitors to clear out their closets and bring in their pre-loved goods, they were offered a free bottle of perfume for a bag of donations and at the end of the day 60 bags of clothes had been handed to the organisers.
LOROS fundraiser Dave Nicklin said: “With a bag of clothing donations averaging £25 worth of LOROS shop stock, the donations we’ve had from the event could make up to £1,500 for the Hospice.”
“As well as this, through the LOROS pop-up shop, tickets sales and raffle, the event made over £800 for LOROS which could pay for the cost of one of our specialist nurses for over a week, which is a great achievement.”
The event marked the end of the LOROS ‘Frocktober’ campaign which saw people from across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland organise their own ‘Frock Swap’ events in aid of LOROS.
A special mention must be given to local blogger Charlotte Gransden, who not only held her own Frockswap event but also blogged different outfits on a daily basis throughout the month to promote the campaign.
