Christmas came early for patients, their families and staff at LOROS this week thanks to a special visit from Leicester Tigers players.

Rugby stars Owen Williams, Freddie Burns and Michele Rizzo visited the Groby Road Hospice on Wednesday, meeting patients and families on the ward and in day therapy.

Lifelong Leicester Tigers fan and LOROS patient Paul Pilling, was in day therapy when the lads visited.

“They were such nice guys, it was great to meet them,” said Paul, 60, of St Matthews, Leicester.

With Paul Pilling“It was good of them to come in and spend time with us, what a Christmas treat.”

The patients also showed off the Christmas presents they have been making in the art therapy room.

“We had a good laugh with them,” said patient Maureen Huxton, 75, of Loughborough.

“I really enjoyed myself; they were all very nice men.”
