Take a ride on the Great Central Railway and enjoy beautiful Charnwood as LOROS fundraiser Full Steam Ahead returns for 2017

After such a successful debut year, LOROS’ Full Steam Ahead is returning for 2017 but this time, it’s better than ever, featuring some of the best bits from the Hospice’s other much-loved events.

Complete with a ride on the Great Central Railway and an adventure through the beautiful Charnwood countryside, Full Steam Ahead promises to be fun for all the family, taking place on Sunday 1st October.

While the event is similar to last year, fundraisers at the Hospice have incorporated all the best bits from former events, Walk on the Wildside and Paws for a Cause and merged them together, to bring you Full Steam Ahead 2017.

LOROS Fundraising Co-ordinator Dave Nicklin said: “We were overwhelmed with how quickly tickets sold out for last year’s Full Steam Ahead event, we knew it had had to be on the LOROS calendar again this time around.

“While the concept of this year’s event remains the same, with participants taking a ride on a train and walking through the wonderful countryside, we’ve made a few exciting changes.

“This year, we have three times the amount of tickets up for grabs, with 600 on offer, so even more people can enjoy our event.”

Following such a successful debut back in 2016, raising £5,000 for the Hospice, Full Steam Ahead allows participants to choose their preferred route from Quorn Station, which will lead them to Rothley Station, where they will get the return train.

A choice of three walking routes will be available for participants, including a four-and-a-half mile walk, six miles, or 10 miles.

“We hope that by having three different routes on offer, Full Steam Ahead will be enjoyed by all the family, including our four-legged friends, as dogs are welcome too,” added Dave.

“We have also added a range of entertainment en-route, to keep the fun flowing from start to finish.”

Completing this year’s event, which is sponsored by Western Power Distribution, there will be a hog roast, as well as hot drinks available on your return.

Tickets for this event are on sale now, with adults priced at £18, U12’s £12 and U3’s, free. With ticket numbers limited, participants are advised to get in there early.

For anyone looking to experience the walk without the train ride, this will be an option at a reduced rate.
