Three local hospices are sharing a boost of almost £25,000 thanks to savers at Hinckley & Rugby Building Society who chose to put their money into its Hospice Affinity Account.

Since its launch in 2008 the account has now paid out a total of more than £100,000 to LOROS in Leicestershire and Mary Ann Evans Hospice and The Myton Hospices in Warwickshire. All three hospices serve families in Hinckley & Rugby’s heartlands.

The latest donation is the largest to date and sees £8,270 given to each hospice by the Society. The total donation of £24,810 is equivalent to one per cent of the average balances held in the Affinity Account in the past year.

Adrian Walker, interim fundraising manager at LOROS, said: “We are very grateful to Hinckley & Rugby Building Society for continuing to support LOROS.

“Their annual donation is testament to the Society’s ongoing commitment to each of the three charities they support. We would like to record our thanks both to Hinckley & Rugby and their customers for their generosity.

“The amount raised could pay for the cost of one of our specialist nurses for 12 days and is an incredible achievement.”

Stewart Heeley, Hinckley & Rugby's marketing & PR manager, said: “Our family of savers have once again proved to be generous supporters of the work these three amazing hospices do for countless families in our heartlands. It’s our savers choosing this account that enables the Society to help the hospices.”
