Launch of LOROS Local

Today (Thursday 30th March) the Hospice launched LOROS Local with an official ribbon cutting attended by LOROS President, Lady Gretton and patient, Gwyn Fraser.

LOROS Local will be taking to the roads of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, making it more accessible for people in the community to find out about the services the Hospice offers, while raising awareness too.

“I’m really, really pleased that LOROS Local has been launched to take out in the community,” said Gwyn, of Newbold Verdon, who has complementary therapy at LOROS, as well as attends their bi-monthly drop-in sessions.

“It will mean that many other people will be able to get the support and pleasure that has been so beneficial to me over the past two years.”

In addition, people will also be able to access a number of non-clinical services on LOROS Local, including bereavement support and complementary therapy.

LOROS Local will also enable nurses, doctors and members of our education team from the Hospice to help train other healthcare professionals by running training sessions locally.

Speaking about the initiative, LOROS CEO John Knight said: “We believe that people will find it helpful to have easier access to both some of our care services and information about the Hospice and we’re hoping that by taking LOROS Local into the community will enable this.

“We also believe that by being more visible in local communities, and by telling more people about LOROS, that this will also help us to raise more income in the future.”

On average, LOROS Local will be taken out into the community around three times every week, with more than 60 locations across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland already identified as suitable sites.

“As well as being an outlet for information, we are hoping LOROS Local will help raise awareness of the Hospice when it’s out on the road too,” added John.

“We don’t think you’ll be able to miss it, we have ensured our logo and branding will be very easy to see, so make sure you look out for that familiar LOROS yellow when you’re out and about.”
