More than 500 supporters turned out to enjoy a cocktail of delicious food, a glass of fizz and plenty of sunshine at this year’s ‘A Day at the Polo’ for LOROS.

The latest event to be added to the Hospice’s calendar, 'A Day at the Polo' was held at Rutland Polo Club on 2nd July.

Visitors, which included both those who bought hospitality tickets and those who brought their own picnics, were able to spend the day watching the highly anticipated, grand-final of the historic Assam Cup Tournament.

Lady Gretton, who was among those who attended, said: “It was a fantastic day and the whole thing was organised magnificently.

“Holding the event over in Rutland gave the people who live there the opportunity to find out all about LOROS and what the Hospice offers.

“It definitely ensured we got the LOROS name out there to a new crowd of people, some of whom, I’m sure, have never even heard of the Hospice before.”

LOROS Patron and TV presenter Anne Davies hosted the event, while Leicester’s very own Burleigh’s Gin held their own gin bar for visitors to enjoy.

More than 150 people bought hospitality tickets to the event, which included a three-course meal designed by chef Kwoklyn Wan and cooked by local caterers Dimblebees.

The four-course menu, which had an Asian twist, included rock shrimp to start, with an Indonesian beef curry for main and chocolate covered lychee for desert.

“The lunch was delicious and the weather stayed kind to us, all in all, it was a marvellous event,” added Lady Gretton.

The event was also attended by more than 300 picnic-goers supporting the Hospice.

LOROS Events Lead Laura Betts said: “Events like ‘A Day at the Polo’ are a fantastic way to branch out into surrounding areas across the county, which is a key priority for LOROS in our strategy.

“It was great to be part of a completely new event and we are extremely grateful to everyone who attended, as well as those who helped make the day run smoothly, ensuring we had a day to remember.”
