The Curry For Charity initiative continued its campaign by raising a total £1000 for local charity, LOROS Hospice.

Over 30 people attended the event hosted at Mumbai Inn, which earlier this year scooped the award for Best New Restaurant at the Leicester Curry Awards. The evening included welcome drinks followed by a three-course sit down meal featuring delicious Indian and Nepalese food.

A small candlelight vigil was also held in remembrance of the victims of the tragic Manchester Arena attack which took place earlier this week.

Event organiser Romail Gulzar, said: “We felt it was important to take a moment and remember those who were caught up in the tragic incident on Monday. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends, family members and loved ones of those who sadly lost their lives and anyone who was affected.

Prior to dinner being served, Adrian Walker, Community and Challenge Events Lead at LOROS made a short speech in which he thanked Romail and also explained a little about the charity itself.

A raffle was also held on the night to raise further funds for the chosen charity, with some great prizes donated by various businesses across the city including theatre tickets and dinner vouchers at a variety of restaurants.

Mr Gulzar added: “Our aim is to host multiple curry evenings across the city to try and support as many local charities as we can. For the attendees, it’s a great night out and for the charities, it’s an opportunity to raise some much-needed funds so it’s a win-win.”

Restaurant owner Rana Azad said: “It was an absolute honour to host the Curry For Charity event at our establishment. LOROS is a great charity and does some vital work with terminally ill adult patients and their families. It’s a great comfort knowing that all the funds raised will contribute massively towards helping local people.”
