More than just your average Sunday stroll, Full Steam Ahead promises to bring a taste of Leicestershire countryside combined with a trip on the Great Central Railway to this year’s LOROS fundraising calendar.

The event, which is taking place on Sunday 1st October, follows last year’s hugely successful debut, which saw tickets sell out within a matter of weeks.

Anticipating it will be just as popular this year round, fundraisers have tripled the amount of limited tickets available to ensure that the event will be bigger and better than before.

LOROS Fundraising Co-ordinator Dave Nicklin said: “Following such a popular event last year, we couldn’t resist once again teaming up with the Great Central Railway for our annual Full Steam Ahead event.

“We have more tickets this time round, so more people can enjoy the event which is open to all ages and members of the family, including our furry four-legged friends.”

The dog-friendly event will begin at Quorn and Woodhouse Station, with participants enjoying a countryside stroll before jumping on board the historic Great Central Railway.

Those taking part will have a variety of scenic routes to choose from, including a five, eight, or 10 mile walk, plus there is a nine mile option too, which does not include the train ride.

Those who ride the train will board at Rothley Station and be taken to back to Quorn, where they can enjoy a delicious hog roast.

“Last year, Full Steam Ahead raised more than £6,000 for the Hospice, which is enough to pay for the care of an inpatient for a 12 day stay at LOROS,” added Dave.

“This year we hope as many people come along and we can raise even more.”

Tickets for the event, which is sponsored by Western Power Distribution, are available, priced at only £18 for adults, £12 for children and under 3’s go free.
