LOROS Grand Draw 2018

If you won £10,000, what would you spend it on? A new car, a dream holiday or perhaps you’d spoil your loved ones? You could be in with a chance of winning thanks to the LOROS Hospice Grand Draw.

Tickets for the Draw can be bought for just £1 from Thursday 22nd March, with the top prize being a whopping £10,000.

Lottery Manager Colette Norman said: “For a ticket costing just £1 with the potential of winning £10,000, who wouldn’t want a go?

“Not only could you win the £10,000 in our Grand Draw, but you could choose how you receive your winnings. You could have a single lump sum or four quarterly payments of £2,500. Other cash prizes are up for grabs, and we’re offering a fast reply draw for those who buy tickets within the first 14 days, with the prize for that standing at £250.”

Last year’s draw raised a total of £89,510, enough to pay for a years’ worth of day therapy for patients, a service that married dad-of-four Michael Jones has found invaluable since his diagnosis.

Michael, a technical verifier from Wigston was diagnosed with terminal Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, a form of throat cancer around four years ago and attends day therapy every fortnight.

“LOROS is my safety net, they catch me when I fall emotionally. I feel like I can really relax there because they understand what I am going through,” said Michael. Michael explains that the main benefit of attending LOROS Hospice is the psychological support he receives. Last year, LOROS counsellors spent a total of 2,424 hours meeting with patients and carers.

“When I had my emergency tracheostomy, it really screwed me up. My mental state declined hugely and I suffered from depression.” he added.

“Up to that point I felt as though I was coping with my diagnosis, then when that happened, I was no longer coping and I was prescribed antidepressants. I felt that I was starting to lose the battle.”

Now Michael feels that with the help of LOROS he’s able to manage his emotions better. “One valuable piece of advice I was given on arrival was, ‘yesterday is gone, do what you can today and don’t worry about what tomorrow may bring’. I just need to focus my mind on getting through today and that is what I’m learning to do.”

Every year, LOROS has to raise £5 million to continue supporting terminally ill people from Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, like Michael.

Play your part in helping LOROS continue the work they do by buying a £1 Grand Draw ticket. This year’s second prize winner will receive £500; third prize is £250 and fourth is £100. There is also a fast reply draw for those who buy tickets within the first 14 days and the prize for that is £250.

Buy tickets by contacting the Lottery team on (0116) 231 8430 or email lottery@loros.co.uk. Alternatively you can visit any LOROS shop but hurry, the closing date is Sunday 3rd June. Players must be 16 or over.
