Married mum-of-three and LOROS MND patient is set to take on Colourfun Mile for Hospice

The LOROS Hospice Colourfun mile is back for 2018, and is bigger and better than ever! Taking place in the centre of Hinckley, last year it saw more than 1,700 competitors run, walk and dance the one mile course, while being showered with a whopping 330kg of multi-coloured paint.

And this year runners will be getting super messy with the added addition of bubbles. One of the colourful participants raising money for LOROS this year will be Claire Cunnington, married mum-of-three who, for the past six years has been living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Claire, 43, from Groby, said, “I’m taking part because it’s such fun, and it’s my chance to give back to LOROS. If I was paying for the care I’ve had from LOROS over the past five years, I’d owe them thousands of pounds.”

Claire was diagnosed with MND when she was eight months pregnant with her third child. Coming to terms with her condition has been tough but, she says, the LOROS nurses have helped her keep positive and live her life the best she can.

“It’s amazing, there are no words to describe LOROS. I feel I have a LOROS family. It’s a privilege to come here.” she added.

Claire will be taking part in the Colourfun Mile in her wheelchair along with her husband Alan and their three children, 15 year-old Amelia, seven-year old Oliver and five-year-old Ben.

The Colourfun Mile will begin at 7pm, from Station Road, in Hinckley, with each participant receiving a pack of free paint and a white t-shirt that they can personalise ahead of the day or they can wait until the event when it will be covered in colour.

Applications between Friday the 4th May and Monday 14th of May will be entered into a draw to receive a free Colourfun goody bag worth £20. One person will receive this from a random draw.

General prices are £12 for under 12’s and £15 for over 12’s ahead of the event, with prices increasing by £3 each when people sign up on the day.
