LOROS Hospice, which cares for thousands of patients each year, is holding a one day conference to bring fresh thinking to the debate about quality in end of life care.

Getting it Right for Patients, which is being held on Friday 9th November at LOROS’ Professional Development Centre, will feature keynote speakers of international repute including Matthew Syed, acclaimed author of Bounce and Black Box Thinking and Dr Kathryn Mannix, palliative care specialist and author of With the End in Mind.

Matthew Syed commented: “Patient safety has always been an important priority for the NHS and one that can only benefit from the kind of fresh thinking that this conference is aiming for.

“I have always believed that owning your mistakes is an important part of achieving – Getting it Right for Patients will ask incisive questions about mindset, attitudes and our ability to learn and progress.”

LOROS CEO John Knight said: “The safety and quality of patients’ experience is paramount to LOROS. We want to use our services, education and research to explore how doing things differently may be able to support patients and their families better across the palliative care sector.

"I’m looking forward to a stimulating conference providing real food for thought for change.” The conference promises to be a lively debate around current challenges with plenty of opportunities for audience interaction.

It will be ideal for anyone interested in improving end of life care – from clinicians, health and social care leaders and students, to the general public.

Places for this fascinating event are very limited so book now. Early bird tickets are available from the LOROS website at a reduced rate until 16th September. A limited number of concessionary tickets are also available.
