Former BBC Breakfast anchor and Classic FM presenter Bill Turnbull has been announced as the guest speaker at LOROS Hospice’s annual Ladies’ Lunch in May next year.

The journalist and broadcaster will entertain over 600 guests at this prestigious event which is being held at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday 22nd May 2019.

LOROS President Lady Jennifer Gretton is hosting the event, which includes a delicious three course meal, raffle and a selection of stalls selling beautiful gifts.

Bill Turnbull, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in November 2017, has talked recently about his experiences of living with terminal cancer, describing it as “so relentlessly boring.”

He said, “You go to bed at night thinking about it, and it’s still there when you wake up. It’s there all day, every day – a fact of life you have to get used to.

“That’s why the work LOROS does supporting people and their families when they’re at their lowest is so valuable. I’m proud to be able to support it.”

LOROS fundraising manager Laura Betts said, “Our Ladies’ Lunch is always really popular and sells out very quickly. This year will be no exception.

“We’re delighted to welcome Bill Turnbull to entertain us, who has a long and illustrious career in journalism as well as broadcasting and a memorable turn on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing too.

“It will be a really special event.”

Tickets are available now from LOROS fundraising on (0116) 231 8431 or loros.co.uk/ladieslunch.
