The East Midlands region of Interserve Construction, based in Syston, has chosen LOROS as its ‘Charity of the Year’ for 2019.

This follows on from its success over the past two years during which the Interserve team have donated more than 170 bags of pre-loved clothes and items via the LOROS Donation Station.

For this year, in addition to continuing with the Donation Station, Interserve Construction and property services staff will be organising lots of fun activities and events throughout the year to raise even more valued funds.

Staff member Richard Neilson, Regional Planner at Interserve, said: “The Donation Station is such an easy, environmentally-friendly way to support our local Hospice LOROS and we are delighted with the huge amount already raised.

“On the back of this success, we decided to do even more fundraising by nominating LOROS as our charity of the year and we have already formed our own Charity Committee Group made up by some of our team members.”

Harry Stanley, a Trainee Quantity Surveyor working at Interserve has been chosen as Chairperson for the Interserve Charity Committee Group and has already planned an itinerary of events including offering to shave his own hair off.

Other ideas include an Interserve Bake-Off Challenge, a Static Triathlon, Three Peaks Challenge, a London-to-Surrey 100-mile bike ride and cinema nights in the office.

Interserve’s Bake-Off Challenge is being launched on 26th February and Interserve is aiming to invite local businesses round for free cake and coffee in return for a donation towards LOROS.

Elaine Godber, Corporate and Community Co-ordinator at LOROS said: "We are so grateful for all the wonderful donations received via the LOROS Donation Station sited at Interserve, making it so easy for staff to donate pre-loved items to LOROS. The estimated amount of the donations is a stunning £4,250, which has certainly made a difference to patient care. We look forward to continuing our relationship during a fantastic calendar of fundraising events planned for the year."
