What would you do with £5,000? LOROS Hospice is giving people the chance to top up their bank account by playing this year’s Summer Raffle.

For just £1 a ticket, players could find themselves scooping thousands of pounds this summer, which they could use to treat themselves or a loved one.

The Raffle was launched with an afternoon tea, held for previous winners, patients, Hospice volunteers, corporate supporters and LOROS Trustees, at Attfields Farm Shop, in Whetstone.

Jan Warner, of Kirby Muxloe, claimed one of the £250 prize packages three years ago, on her birthday.

“What a treat it was,” said the 74-year-old.

“It was certainly a birthday to remember.

“I buy the raffle tickets to support LOROS, not to win, I still play now.”

Fellow winner, 65-year-old Pam Collins, of Uppingham has also won £250 in the past and attended this year’s launch.

“It was a very big surprise,” she said.

“I still play and would advise others to as well.”

Lottery Manager Colette Norman said: “We are excited to once again be giving players the chance to win up to £5,000 by playing our Summer Raffle.

“Year upon year, we raise thousands of pounds for LOROS through our Raffles, which can make a huge difference to patients and their loved ones who are supported by the Hospice.”

Last year’s Summer and Winter Raffles combined, raised more than £170,000 for LOROS.

“It costs just £1 to play our Raffle but you could make a real difference to terminally ill patients and their families,” added Colette.

Tickets can be bought at any of the LOROS shops, from the Hospice or online at loros.co.uk/raffle
