Television and radio presenter Bill Turnbull says he feels honoured to have hosted LOROS Hospice’s annual Ladies Lunch.

The former BBC presenter, who was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in 2017, entertained an audience of more than 600 with anecdotes and tales from his career.

Bill, who is now a radio presenter on Classic FM, spoke in front of 620 people at the yearly event, which once again took place at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium.

“It was a great honour to speak to the ladies of Leicestershire at the LOROS event and great fun at the same time,” said the 63-year-old.

“I hope they enjoyed it as much as we did.”

Bill filled the room with humour as he recalled his time as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, before giving the audience an insight into the entertainment industry, as he spoke about the numerous celebrities he worked with.

“Bill was hugely engaging and extremely interesting,” said LOROS Fundraising Co-ordinator Abi Jarrom, who organised the event.

“He was extremely down to earth and I think our ladies loved hearing all of his humorous tales.”

Supporters were also given the chance to treat themselves as they enjoyed a spot of retail therapy, with jewellery, beauty products and clothes available to buy throughout the day.

“The day was a huge success, we raised £19,000 and everyone seemed to really enjoy the event,” added Abi.

“Of course, a special mention goes to Next who kindly sponsored the event for us.

“We’re already in talks about who will be our host at next year’s event, so watch this space.”
