Businesses and organisations from across the city and county swapped the office for the golf course to raise money for LOROS

Businesses and organisations from across the city and county swapped the office for the golf course to raise money for LOROS.

A total of 19 teams took part in this year’s annual Golf Day at Rothley Park, raising more than £16,000 for the Hospice.

All of the participants were in high spirits, despite the damp weather, with each of them being treated to a private dinner in the Golf Club following the competition.

LOROS Fundraising Co-ordinator Abi Jarrom, who organised the event said: “Our Golf Day is in its 13th year now and it was great to see so many teams getting together once again to support LOROS.

“This is always an event that stands out in our fundraising calendar, especially for businesses, who can’t help but come together and get slightly competitive on the golf course.

“A huge thank you to every single person who took part, as well as the organisations who supported this year’s event, especially LCM, who were once again our headline sponsor.”

Charnwood Welding Supplies triumphed on the day, clinching the first prize, with CSL Business Machines coming in at second and SJ Events claiming third.

The event, which took place on Friday 10th May, also included a raffle and an auction. “Over the past 13 years, our annual Golf Day has raised a total of nearly £150,000, which is an incredible amount,” added Abi.

“£150,000 is enough money to pay for the running of our Home Visiting service for 18 months, which gives our patients, who have often become isolated, some companionship, while allowing their carer to take that much-needed time to themselves knowing their loved ones are in safe hands.

“We can’t thank everyone enough who has attended and supported our Golf Day over the past 13 years, your involvement means that we can continue supporting terminally ill patients and their family.”
