Raffle Winner Stories

A big congratulations to Lynda from Hinckley, who won the top prize of £5,000 in The Spring into Summer Raffle.

Nikki from our Lottery team had the pleasure of hand delivering the winner's cheque, and had a social distance chat with Mr and Mrs Parnell at the door.

Lynda said, “I’ve been playing the LOROS raffle and lottery for many years. When I realised I couldn’t sell our booklet of tickets to friends and family due to the pandemic, I decided to buy them all myself!”

She chose to support LOROS all those years ago because she and her husband know lots of people with cancer, and it is such a wonderful charity.

Lynda said, “I’m delighted to have won. There are lots of home improvements we’d like to do, and we’re still hoping to get to the Isle of Wight in a few months’ time, so this will really help us out.”

Mr Parnell added, “I didn’t realise that LOROS offered so many services. I always thought it was just end of life care. We’ve been through a cancer journey ourselves, so we know first-hand how tough it is. It really does make you think.”

Lynda was so pleased to have won, she wrote us a lovely ‘thank you’ card, saying ‘it is her absolute pleasure to support such an amazing place’.

Please help us, to help others

It costs us £8.2 million each year to be able to deliver our services. The NHS does give us some money, but we still need to raise at least £6 million each year from our local community.
