Michael Manger is hoping to raise £10,000 for LOROS Hospice, who cared for his wife Rosy before she died.

The couple, who had been together for six years, married in mid-December before Rosy died on 23rd December, aged 35.

Just an incredible place and a much needed service which we are lucky to have

Now Michael is fundraising for LOROS, so other people can receive the same level of care that his wife had.

Michael said: “Personally I was overwhelmed at how caring, attentive and personal the staff were to Rosy. They were kind, supportive and always on hand to help. They were also amazing to me, offered a shoulder to cry on, hot meals and a bed to stay over when I wanted. Just an incredible place and a much needed service which we are lucky to have.

“I think people get scared when they hear the word 'hospice', essentially because they know what's on the horizon. However, the LOROS building, gardens, staff, volunteers and facilities are so incredible, it’s important to me that others receive the same quality care that Rosy did.”

Michael and a group of friends are taking on the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge – climbing Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen y Fan over three days at the end of April, in Rosy’s memory. His JustGiving page is already at nearly £4,000 and he’s aiming for £10,000.

He added: "I initially didn't want to set a target but people have been amazing and generous. I would love it if I could get to £10,000."

Debbie Thrussell, LOROS fundraising coordinator, said: "We're blessed to have some truly amazing supporters, who think of others even during their own tragedy.

"Mike is such an individual, and his fundraising is inspiring. We'll be supporting him and his family every step of the way."
