With a remarkable 1,000 runners signed up, the Rothley 10K is more than just a race - it's a major community event and fundraiser. Hosted by LOROS and Mattioli Woods, this 38th annual event takes place on Tuesday 4th June.

For Nicki Little, 69, a dedicated supporter of LOROS, the Rothley 10K is a personal challenge and a chance to give back to a cause she deeply cares about.

Nicki said: "I've been involved with LOROS for about 30 years. I know people who have visited patients on the ward and they’re incredibly grateful for everything LOROS has done."

Nicki's connection with LOROS began in the early 2000s during a work placement. Despite a busy life, she contributes whenever possible, whether it’s bag packing, participating in fundraising walks, or running in events like the Rothley 10K.

"I do it because I know how valued LOROS is in the community. The treatment people receive there is often compared to a five-star hotel, making a difference in their lives."

"What motivated me to take part in the Rothley 10K is my involvement in a running club. Before lockdown, I regularly participated in Sunday morning league races and several half marathons each year. I've done the Rothley 10K quite a few times and want to challenge myself again."

Starting in Woodgate, Rothley at 7.15pm, the two-lap course heads towards Mountsorrel, through the country lanes before heading back towards Rothley.

Nicki's advice to anyone who is considering taking part is: "I would say if you can do 5K, then you can probably push yourself to 10K. It’s a friendly race with a range of abilities - just prepare for the steep hills. You can even jog along and still have a really fantastic time, but I would recommend giving it a go."

In 2023, over 700 runners took part, and along with vital sponsor support, raised over £30,000 for LOROS.

Ian Mattioli MBE, Chief Executive Officer at Mattioli Woods said: “This is the 38th year that the residents of Rothley have opened their village to this amazing run and Mattioli Woods couldn’t be prouder to continue to be a part of something so special – I know I personally am. Although I’m not running this year, there has been over 1,000 runners sign up – an achievement that shows just how many have taken this run to their hearts.”

“Each year I say we are looking forward to this event being one of our best and this year I can certainly feel the excitement building, not just from the runners but the many, many volunteers it takes to put on an event this big. I’d like to thank each and every one for their efforts in supporting the race as well as all the residents, supporters and runners who continue to allow the race to keep going.”

Don’t miss out on the Rothley 10K – secure your place by Monday 3rd June for just £25 at rothley10k.com

Registration is open until 6.45pm on the day of the race but tickets will be a higher cost of £40.
