Something mammoth is coming to Leicester next year to celebrate LOROS Hospice’s 40th anniversary.

Stomp Round Leicester is a free, fun, family-friendly art trail which will bring the people of Leicester together on a trail of adventure across their city.

LOROS Hospice is working with leading art event producers Wild in Art to create the 10-week trail which will comprise 40 giant, beautifully-decorated elephant sculptures stampeding across Leicester in summer 2025.

At the end of the trail, each giant elephant sculpture will be auctioned to raise money for LOROS Hospice, helping terminally ill local people and their families at the most difficult time of their lives.

Rob Parkinson, LOROS CEO said: “Stomp Round Leicester will be a brilliant, colourful party and everyone’s invited! LOROS is at the heart of its community and our Elephant art trail will celebrate with everyone who supports us and uses our services. I’d like to invite the whole community to get involved and support the trail’s success.”

LOROS Hospice is inviting businesses, community groups, schools and other organisations to pledge their support and take part in the fun, whilst also supporting a well-loved charity in its 40th year.

The first elephant sculpture to be unveiled is the spectacularly striking ‘Cellie-bration’, painted by artist Donna Newman. It’s an explosion of colour featuring 40 intertwined elephants beneath a Leicester skyline, showered in celebratory ticker tape.

Charlie Langhorne, Managing Director and Co-founder, Wild in Art said: “Our events enable thousands of people of all ages to experience art by making it part of everyday life. The elephant is a wonderful sculpture and I have no doubt that it will capture everyone’s imagination. It’s a fantastic opportunity for businesses, artists, schools and the wider community to be part of a highly visible, collaborative and captivating project that will make everyone smile.”

Stomp Round Leicester follows on from 2021’s hugely successful Rocket Round Leicester trail which increased footfall to the city and brought significant benefits to the local economy.
