Run Leicester Festival, which took place on Sunday 13th October, was officially the biggest and best ever with more than 4,100 runners taking part in its Half Marathon and 10k races.

A carnival atmosphere took over Leicester as thousands of runners ran a scenic route through Leicester’s parks and city streets. With two LOROS nurses sounding the starting klaxon, the runners were cheered on by numerous spectators whilst a host of live music and singers kept their energy levels high as they pounded the pavements.

As well as creating a feelgood atmosphere, the increase in runners had even more positive benefits – bringing in a record amount for local charity LOROS Hospice.

Race Director Andrew Ward said: “We are delighted to see Run Leicester Festival grow into an annual institution. It’s so well supported by communities, who’ve really adopted it as their own. Without the hundreds of people who volunteer, from the cadets and scouts who manage the water stations to the people who give out the medals, it would not be possible.

“Leicester has such a vibrant running community, they’ve really taken this event to their hearts and it’s great to see it go from strength to strength. And as a not-for-profit event we love seeing LOROS benefit from that.”

Run Leicester organisers plan to announce 2025’s date in the next few weeks. Visit runleicester.co.uk for more.
