LOROS Hospice shines a light into the darkness for families this Christmas

LOROS Hospice’s Light Up a Life service returns this festive season on Sunday 8th December at 4.30pm.

The service, which is being held in the hospice grounds, offers an opportunity to remember loved ones who will be missed this Christmas.

With readings, poems and music which honour those who hold a special place in our hearts, Light Up a Life is an annual occasion to remember the people who sadly can no longer be with us.

In addition to the service, LOROS’ Memory Light Trail is open from 4pm-7pm on Thursday 5th December to Wednesday 11th December.

The trail weaves through the hospice gardens, comprising thousands of twinkling, sparkling, starry lights, each one reflecting a much-missed loved one.

Mum of two Emma Collings, whose husband Chris was cared for at LOROS a few years ago, is attending the service and light trail.

Emma, who will be sharing her experiences at the service, said: "I cannot say enough about the difference being in LOROS made to our saying goodbye. Quite simply it gave us a window to be a family again.

"On Chris’s stone we’ve had engraved ‘his light shines on’ and that’s what LOROS did for us, bring light to the darkness."

Charlotte Graham, who is organising the event for LOROS added: “LOROS is a special place and we want to share it with everyone.

“That’s why we’re opening up these events to everyone who will be grieving a loved one this Christmas. You don’t need to have any previous connection to the hospice in order to attend the service or explore the Light Trail, so please do encourage friends and family to come along.”

Entry to the Light Up a Life service and LOROS Memory Light Trail is via a donation. For more information and details of parking please visit loros.co.uk/LUAL
