Light Up a Life - important news

6 Dec 2024

With storms forecast to bring strong winds and heavy rain over the weekend, we’ve taken advice and made the difficult decision to cancel this Sunday’s Light Up a Life service. With high winds predicted, it’s unfortunately the only sensible course of action. We know this is disappointing news, and for that we apologise, but the safety of our supporters is the most important priority.  The LOROS Memory Light Trail will also be closed on Saturday and Sunday this weekend.

Unfortunately it will not be possible to reschedule the service due to other prior commitments.

In order to allow everyone the opportunity to visit the hospice and take some precious moments to remember your loved ones, we are extending the LOROS Memory Light Trail by four days, from Monday 9th December through to Sunday 15th December 2024, from 4pm-7pm.

The books of remembrance will be available to visit in the chapel during that time, and you’ll be able to light a candle in memory of your loved one as well. The Christmas tree lights will be lit. However, please don’t worry if you can’t visit next week, as the books of remembrance will remain in the chapel throughout December.

Once again, we’re sorry for this disappointing news and hope you’ll still consider visiting the Light Trail when it reopens on Monday.

Anyone wishing to make a donation in memory of a loved can still do so online at loros.co.uk/lual

Ava's story

"When he finally went to LOROS, he only had three days left — but those three days meant everything. Dad’s room at LOROS felt like a little Airbnb, not a hospital. It was peaceful and opened onto the gardens. We could stay close to him the whole time. It felt calm — almost normal — which was such a comfort."
