Talking about death and dying

It can be difficult to start a conversation about death. But once you get started it’s a lot easier, particularly if everyone joins in.

We asked LOROS colleagues what choices they would make when they die

How do you want to be remembered?

Would you like to be buried or cremated?

What would your funeral be like?

What’s your funeral song?

How would you celebrate the life of a loved one?

A LOROS colleague whose wife has recently died tells us how he arranged a fitting funeral according to her wishes.

Starting the conversation

If you need help to start the conversation, a few years ago we developed ‘My Funeral Wishes’, a leaflet which is now used widely by GPs and health centres as a tool to assist people in thinking through these questions.
