On a bright, sunny but cold Shrove Tuesday, Leicester Market Traders hosted a pancake relay race to raise funds for charity.

The participanting teams had to toss pancakes whilst negotiating a course throughout various obstacles and buildings in the market.

The race, which was won by the Outdoor Traders, took place in 2 heats of 2 teams, with a final between the two winners.

The team, who were allowed to decide which charity benefitted from a donation of £100 from the trader’s association, decided to give the donation LOROS.

Pancakes with fresh lemon or orange were also available in return for a 50p donation to LOROS, and a further £63.15 was raised.

Adrian Walker, Senior Fundraiser at LOROS said “Our volunteers and staff were very pleased to be invited to join in the local  festive fun at Leicester Market.

"The event ticks all the right boxes of being fun to watch and participate in, whilst raising much needed funds to help LOROS patients and their families - the money raised today could pay for a patient's meals for 33 days.

“Thank you to Leicester Market and the Traders Association for their support and donations and especially to Adam who cooked over 100 delicious pancakes!”
