In January 2018, one of the ‘Ark daddies’, Nick, from the Ark Pre-school in Humberstone, Leicester, lost his battle with cancer after being supported by LOROS.

The children at the Pre-school recently ran an Ark Marathon in Nick's memory. They completed 26 laps of their hall in support of the Hospice who cared for him and as a result of their superb efforts, raised a fantastic £1,010.

Faron Bloomfield, Fundraising Co-ordinator at LOROS, along with Lionel, the LOROS lion, were invited along to the school to meet all the mini-athletes and Nick’s family and to collect their cheque.

Faron said “We had a great time meeting all the runners as well as their families and meeting Nick’s family.

"The marathon was planned by the wonderful Alison Hadley who did a fantastic job of both that and organising the fundraising.

"The children have raised an incredible amount and we are so thankful for their efforts. The money could pay for the cost of one of our specialist nurses for 10 whole days and is an example of just how much their support means to us.

"Congratulations to all the children and thank you to Alison for inviting us along!”
