The Fireball Rally Team, Bangers and Cash, from Field Fitness, successfully completed the gruelling Monte Carlo Fireball Rally between the 24th and 31st May and at the time of print have raised a massive £4,861 for LOROS! The dedicated team won a Fireball Trophy for the ‘Most money collected’ for their chosen charity!
Their rally began in Calais and the journey took them through France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Germany and Belgium. The team completed the rally in two Saab 9.3 Aero convertibles cars costing under £900 each and arrived safely back in the UK, having completed 2,600 miles each.
Each night the team were given the coordinates for the next day and then had to plan their route with the necessary stops along the way. The daily journeys were really challenging due to both the distance covered and the duration of the driving but the effective teamwork of all the members proved a winning combination.
Paul said, ‘"The event was fantastic fun, an experience of a lifetime but the amount of travelling certainly took its toll!’’
The Fireball Team would like to say a huge thank you to their wive’s, the local rock, their sponsors, helpers at the coffee morning and their supporters who followed them throughout the whole event!
They added: "It was a lot more challenging than we originally thought, but it was a fantastic experience with a great team and more importantly we raised money for a great charity’ - we could not have done this without all of our supporters - thank you again for your help!
LOROS would like to say a massive thank you to all the team and everyone who was involved in any way with this very successful fundraising venture. The money raised from their trip could pay for the cost of one of our specialist nurses for almost seven weeks - a truly remarkable achievement.
