The annual HSBC Table Tennis Tournament took place last week at Knighton Park Table Tennis Club in Leicester and raised an amazing £2,000 from entry fees and a raffle. This will be very generously matched by the company match giving scheme and so a total of £4,000 will be donated to LOROS.
16 teams from Spearing Waite, RSM, HSBC, Magma (two teams), Howes Percival, Mazars, Grant Thornton (two teams), KPMG, McIntyre’s, Gateley, BHW, Nelson’s, Newby Castleman & Weightmans/HSBC eagerly awaited the start of the first round early in the evening.
The teams were soon whittled down and the final was a hard fought battle between Magma and Grant Thornton with Magma coming out on top once again.
Magdalena Korytkowska, Partnership Development Lead at LOROS, said: "I seem to say this every year, but once again this has been a wonderful fundraiser for the Hospice and the competitive spirit was very evident.
"Graham and Richard from HSBC did their usual brilliant job of organising an event which local businesses vie to be part of and their very generous donation of £4,000 could pay for the cost of one of our specialist nurses for almost 6 weeks.
I would also like to take the opportunity to say a very special thank you to Knighton Park Table Tennis Club for their hospitality. This is the first time the tournament has been held outside HSBC premises and we are very grateful for their help and assistance.
Thank you so much, from everyone here at LOROS."
