Attending Wyggestons Hospital and Angus House annual cheese and wine evening is a favourite event for Corporate and Community Relationship Co-ordinator Elaine Godber: "It is my pleasure to represent LOROS at this delightful evening, having attended for my fifth year it has a feeling of 'coming home' about it, socialising with familiar faces, residents, staff other charity representatives and governors and catching up on the year past.
"All charities are living in challenging times and this is recognised by all those connected to Wyggestons and Agnus House who regularly collect for charity by hosting coffee mornings, raffles, quizzes and so generally having fun whilst fundraising; LOROS is lucky to be one of their regular charities benefiting from their kind generosity.
"This year's event raised another £330 and means that since 1988 they have donated an incredible £11,441.52.
"It is also an opportunity for me to acknowledge all the wonderful donations received via the LOROS Donation Station for the past six years amounting to an estimated £32,000 with each bag donated having an approximate value of £25.
"Their combined total could pay for the cost of one of our specialist nurses for more than a year and is a remarkable achievement.
"On behalf of LOROS it is my privilege to thank everyone at Wyggestons Hospital and Angus House for their very kind and generous donations both in funds raised and in pre-loved items donated for sale in our charity shops, they are truly making a difference and helping us to continue to care for over 2,500 patients each year.
"I am already looking forward to 2020 cheese and wine evening."
