Go the Distance for LOROS

Last year Mark took part in the LOROS Leicester to Skegness sponsored bike ride and was overwhelmed by everyone's generosity.

Mark said: "It was my intention to make this an annual event in memory of Gillian and also raise funds for LOROS who took such great care of her and supported me and the family. Unfortunately, the event had to be cancelled this year due to COVID-19 and in its place, LOROS set a 'go the distance' challenge that could be completed as an individual.

"LOROS, as a charity, has been severely impacted by the virus due to cancelled events and shop closures so I hope that you can support them by sponsoring me in memory of Gillian, who loved cycling and is still missed and always loved."

Louise, who met the couple when she appeared in a play called "See how they run" several years ago, accompanied Mark on his journey. She added: "LOROS has supported Mark and Gillian and many other families over the years, so I would echo Mark's words. I will be cycling alongside (behind) Mark to Newmarket so wish us luck!"

The duo set out from Leicester on a 100 mile trip to Leicester to Mark's daughter’s house just outside Newmarket on the 20th September and successfully completed their challenge raising an amazing £2,667.

Debbie Dickman, Supporter Engagement Co-ordinator at LOROS, said: It has been heartwarming to see the different ways people have used to continue supporting the Hospice. I am so pleased that Mark and Louise were able to complete the challenge and would to congratulate them on their achievement - a huge thank you from everyone at LOROS.
