Whilst we all know that Covid-19 has made it incredibly difficult to fundraise and host events, it hasn’t meant it is impossible That has been perfectly demonstrated by Tom Flowers and his team over at Tom Flowers Cricket Coaching.

Tom set out on a mission to cover 96 miles across Leicestershire & Rutland over a 5-day trek, taking in some of the counties picturesque cricket grounds along the way. Starting on 9th November at 8am, the “TFCC Covid 96er” aimed to raise £1000 in memory of Toms gran, Edith Flowers. Supported by Niamh and Elizabeth as well as Scott Moore and Ellie from CEL Sports Ltd, Tom was left with around 20 miles to cover on the final day. Met at the start of the day by LOROS Lionel, Tom dragged himself over the finish line in the dark at around 6pm on Friday evening.

The total raised was an amazing £2265.00 which will help support our patients and their families this Christmas. The final amount was presented at their newly opened Rutland Cricket Centre.

Bruce Smith, Supporter Engagement Co-Ordinator for LOROS, said: “it was great to track Tom's journey on TFCC’s Facebook page and to see the determination there was to complete such a challenge.

"Despite the obvious restrictions, Tom and the team have proven that you really can’t stop determined fundraising whilst following social distancing protocols. A huge thanks to all at Tom Flowers Cricket Coaching for their support.”
