Inaugural Di Linley Golf Day swings into action!

On Friday 20th August 144 golfers lined up at the beautiful Kirby Muxloe Golf Club to tee off in the first Di Linley memorial golf day.

Combined with the annual “Diggers Day”, the teams began with a bacon cob before a shotgun start in wonderful sunshine.

On-course competitions include the “Beat The Pro” Challenge on the 18th hole, nearest the pin and the longest drive. Following a competitive day's golf, the teams were treated to a buffet dinner which was expertly provided by Michael and the catering team at Kirby Muxloe.

After being well fed (and even better, well-hydrated) the guests then raised a staggering £3000 through the raffle and £4080 at auction!

All in all, £7250 was raised for LOROS in memory of Di Linley. Those that know Di will know that she was the epitome of all things LOROS and it seemed very fitting that the winner of the trophy in its first year was LOROS’s Supporter Care Co-Ordinator Bruce Smith.

Following the event, daughter Emma said: “Mum would have absolutely loved seeing all these people here to raise money for LOROS and the fact that LOROS can have their name on the trophy for the first year is just perfect!”

A huge thanks from all at LOROS to David Linley (pictured right), Bruce Whipham (Kirby Muxloe PGA Professional, pictured left), Emma, Digger and everyone involved in such a brilliant event.
